Meeting with Community Pharmacy England

I met with Zoe Long and George Foote from Community Pharmacy England today to discuss the challenges facing pharmacies up and down the country.

Many residents have been concerned by the closures of several pharmacies serving East Ward, in particular a number of Boots branches, as part of wider closures by Boots.

Pharmacies are facing an ever increasing level of demand, yet they have not seen the required funding or reform from the Conservative government to keep up with this demand.

Following my meeting I am contacting local pharmacies in Wakefield to gather more feedback regarding the specific challenges they are facing locally, and how I can best support them going forward.

I will keep fighting to make sure all our communities have equitable access to pharmacy services and that we have a pharmacy service fit for the future.
